|God Needs Help!|
Text: "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field" Luke 10:2.
Securing workers for the ministry is a major concern for most local churches, denominations and missionary agencies. And it strikes me that it is so very human to try to do it our way.
There are departments of recruitment and departments of development. There are candidate secretaries who visit college after college seeking missionary recruits. Advertising money is raised, and travel costs are funded, all in the honorable pursuit of finding Christian workers for the harvest fields of the world.
As earnest and affable as these religious headhunters may be, the fact remains that our Lord gave us the method. Pray! It is not for me to say that God never uses human aids. Perhaps the Holy Spirit works around them in the end. But prayer, earnest prevailing prayer, will secure the workers for the harvest fields. The Bible says so.
Could it be that those workers in the harvest who have been secured by prayer are infinitely more likely to become enduring veterans in a life-long endeavor?
