|Spiritual Gifts Don't Make You Spiritual|
Text: "Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed" 1 Corinthians 1:7.
Spiritual gifts are part of the package. Becoming a Christian involves spiritual gifting. These gifts come into our lives through the work of the Holy Spirit, and they are intended to develop and improve as we move along in our spiritual journey.
There are sometimes, however, problems. Take, for example, the Corinthian church. It was in ardent pursuit of spiritual gifts and had been so successful in its quest that the Apostle could say, "You've got them all." And so they did.
But that same church was also told by the Apostle that they were still carnal. In fact, they were full of immorality and discord. But their spiritual gifts were operating all the while.
The sober truth is this: spiritual gifts are good and necessary and helpful too. But they are not indicators of godliness or true spiritual life.
