|Are You Filled with the Holy Spirit? Do You Know It?|
Text: "Brother Saul, the Lord --Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here --has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit" Acts 9:17.
A.W. Tozer once wrote that no one was ever filled with the Holy Spirit who didn't know it. This passage not only infers that Paul comes to realize that he is no longer blind but can see, but also that he has been filled with the Holy Spirit.
At this point, he had already been converted for three days and that, since he was blinded on the Damascus road, he was now being led around by the hand by others. Then he meets Ananias who heals him and introduces him to the Holy Spirit.
The introduction to the Holy Spirit is an essential event in the life of a Christian. Living the Spirit-filled life is, in the words of the title of Watchman Nee's book, The Normal Christian Life.
I once watched a film of Billy Graham addressing 5,000 Indian Christian workers. They were all dressed in white, and Mr. Graham, in the energy of his youth, was asking them, "Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you know it? Do you know it?"
I ask you the same question: Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you know it?
Are you living the normal Christian life? Have you once lived that way only to abandon it?
If perchance you are looking back to better days with the Holy Spirit, "the way back is the way you came the first time."
