A Narrow Gate Off the Main Path

Speeding down the wide road, enjoying the ease of travel, the narrow gate is easy to miss. Actually, it is impossible to access unless one gets off the main road and travels a smaller, more difficult path. If one is able to pass through the narrow gate, the experience is like none other, but as long as one stays on the wide road, the narrow gate cannot be accessed. Death and destruction awaits those speeding along the wide road.

Jesus said, “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). The apostle Peter also described the careful search and inquires that were made to know the Christ of salvation which was prophesied. God’s plan of salvation is so amazing that even the angels of heaven long to understand (1 Peter 1:10-12). So Peter admonishes us to stay alert, focused on Jesus Christ and His promise to grant grace to those who seek Him.

Don’t be conformed or shaped by the world’s values: get off the flow of “everyone’s doing it” and seek to follow the Holy One in all your behavior. It will take effort to discipline your mind and actions. On the main road, you can just float along without much effort, but having a glimpse of what awaits behind the narrow gate should be motivation enough to follow Jesus Christ completely. His salvation has already paid the price of your redemption – there is nothing you can do, no matter who many good deeds you do, to earn salvation. Christ offers salvation as a free gift to those who seek it.

The fallen angels and Satan would like you to close your eyes and float along on the main road, eventually to join them in their own destruction. The salvation that Christ purchased for us is not available to these fallen angels – it is only for people who are willing to get off the main road of destruction and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Which road are you traveling?

Reserved for You

Welcomed words for a weary traveler: “Your room is ready, it was reserved for you.” Arriving without a reservation has meant that no room was available. When that happens late in the day and no other facilities are available, it has meant sleeping outside without any of the provisions of a reserved room. So we value reservations.

On our wedding night, we arrived in the destination city late in the evening but were told that our room had not been kept even though we had prepaid the full amount in advance. Of course, I insisted that they provide a room which the hotel did after much pressure. So it seems that in this world, a reservation is not always a sure thing.

The apostle Peter wrote that sinners who have confessed their sins and accepted the forgiveness offered by God through Jesus Christ have a reservation in heaven (1 Peter 1:4). It is guaranteed. It will not be canceled due to the passage of time. It is not vapour-ware like some software that is here today and then vanishes. It can’t be changed or modified through corruption. It is an inheritance that will not perish and it is promised to us, the living, before we get there.

People who have yielded the control of their lives to Jesus Christ our Lord have been born again into the kingdom of heaven, and have become joint-heirs with Christ in heaven. Like adopted children, we gain all the benefits of the kingdom even though we were born in sin in the kingdom ruled by Satan. Our relationship in the kingdom with God grants us such goodness that we cannot even imagine all that He has prepared for us.

Peter makes it very clear: our reservation in heaven is obtained while we live and our faith gives us reason to be giddy with joy over our future home. Unfortunately, there are some organizations that claim the apostle Peter as the foundation but deny that anyone can know for sure that they will go to heaven. Heresy! The Bible makes it clear that the words were written so that we may know for certain that we have eternal life with God (1 John 5:13).

If you have been taught that it is not possible to know for certain whether you have eternal life, turn from the false doctrine passed down over many generations and read the original writings on which these organizations claim to be based, the Bible. Start with the Gospel of John and the letter of 1 John. Those who have entered the kingdom of heaven love God and follow Him completely. These have a reservation guaranteed by God Himself. Will I see you there?

A Deal is a Deal but What About Equality?

Early in the morning, an employer hires some workers for the day and agrees to pay them $200 for 12 hours work. The workers were very happy with the deal and went to work. At 9 am, the employer again hires more workers and offered to pay them the right amount. The employer does the same thing at noon, at 3 pm and 5 pm.

When evening came, the workers were called to receive their pay. Starting with the workers who started last, he paid each $200. When the first workers who had been hired early in the morning received their $200, they grumbled because they had worked so much longer than the others and they expected to be paid more than the others even though they had agreed to that amount when they started.

Their sense of fairness and equality had been shattered. Had they not known what the workers who arrived later had received, they would have been satisfied that they received what they had agreed was a fair wage. Equal pay for equal work! Thus a union is formed to oppose the employer’s generosity.

All the workers received pay which they would not have received if they had not agreed to work. The first workers agreed to the amount of pay, and whether later workers knew how much the first workers had agreed to or not, they all were willing to work.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like that. God is the employer and He calls people to His service and agrees to grant them eternal life. Whether one has served all his or her life for God, or accepts God’s offer on their death-bed, all receive the same gift of eternal life (Matthew 20:1-16).

The generosity of God is something so foreign to politically correct thinking in this world, but I am so glad He is generous because no one could ever earn their way to heaven.

Refusing to Repent

World events and social movements are rapidly moving to a culmination. The leaders and followers of such movements declare that there is no creator God, that Jesus the Christ is not God, and that personal rights are superior to the moral code given by God. History reveals that failure to believe and obey the written revealed will of God in the Scriptures will be deadly for the soul. Repentance is the only thing that will save people from complete devastation.

“There is no God” is written in Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1. That’s what many people believe and to see it written in the Bible seems to confirm what they want to believe. How much easier it is to go through life if you are not subject to another authority, where you can choose whatever you want because you are a god unto yourself with rights over your own body and actions. And if you believe that, then it is easy to say that no one has a right to criticize your actions and choices, your sexual preference or orientation, your need for an abortion or your decision to end your life when you choose.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds (Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1).

Even seemingly religious people read Scripture selectively. They see certain words but ignore others claiming a deeper understanding of the intent behind the words or their cultural implications. Churches practice selective reading when they decide that elders as described in the Bible can be women although the Bible clearly states that an elder is the husband of one wife (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:6). Other “Christian” churches have declared that it is acceptable to have practicing sinners as their leaders in direct contradiction to God’s instruction (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1:8-11). Such groups have a desire to be culturally relevant and by becoming more socially acceptable they have denied the unchanging Word of God as truth.

The Bible declares that God is unchanging – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. The Bible is the revelation of Jesus Christ, and His Word never changes. People who think that they can pick and choose those portions of Scripture they find acceptable while rejecting other words are deceived. The Bible is God’s Word to mankind; it is not a democratic charter that can be changed by two-thirds majority vote! Not even the pope of the Roman Catholic Church can change God’s Word.

Social activists have called on the Roman Catholic Church to be more accommodating in their laws as though God’s laws are subject to democratic will rather than the will of a Supreme Ruler. Such a mindset underlies the common belief that there is no God and that religious organizations are nothing more than a crutch for those who are emotionally or morally weak.

It is acknowledged that sexual orientation toward homosexuality for some may not be a conscious choice, but it is not the way God created mankind. There are many examples in the Bible that demonstrate that a person’s life may be affected by actions of someone in their family generations ago. ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations’ (Numbers 14:18). Everyone can know freedom from the bondage of sin, even sin from previous generations, however certain consequences may continue to follow, and for that, God gives the power to overcome sinful practices to live a God-pleasing life.

Evolutionists believe that there is no God and that we are the product of the right conditions that somehow began life. So through NASA, they search the planets and beyond looking for some evidence that life exists elsewhere and is not exclusive to earth where it began with Adam and Eve. However even the astronomers speak of galaxies as having a “grand design” (http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160714.html). A design requires a designer and it is so hard to look at the stars and not see the order (Romans 1:20) and laws so precise that the spacecraft Juno could be placed into a precise orbit around Jupiter.

False religions deny that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth and all that exists. These religions have many followers. By observation, Islam denies the teaching of the Bible concerning Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and fosters an environment of terror, murder and rebellion. While that is a general statement, the reality is seen in the news on a daily basis. Their god does not speak to them and their guide book is not a living book. It would seem that their greatest enemy is any Christian or Jew who calls on the Name of the Living God. Such a stance is no different than Satan’s opposition to God.

The sovereign Lord will not be swayed by world events, social movements or persistent denial of His existence. He gives everyone a window of opportunity to repent and live. For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God. “Therefore, repent and live” (Ezekiel 18:32).

We are all sinners (Romans 3:23) but Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). He did not come to condemn us but to offer salvation so that all may be saved. To those who repent of their sin and accept the living God as supreme ruler of their lives, God offers eternal life. But those who want to stay in control of self and deny the existence of the Creator, they follow the deceiver, also called Satan, to the eternal fire of hell.

John the Baptist and Jesus both preached a message of repentance: repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Matthew 3:2; 4:17). The warning remains: if you do not repent, you will perish (Luke 13:3, 5). God gives you time to repent but if you ignore Him, you will perish (Revelation 2:21). The Bible says you must repent and turn from your sin to be saved. Failure to repent while you have a chance will seal your fate forever.

Hear what the Bible says:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them (Romans 1:18-32).

If you have a disagreement with these words, your disagreement is with God and Him alone. If you are offended by these words, pay attention to the message – this may be your last warning to repent.

If a man does not repent, He [God] will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready (Psalm 7:12). Anyone who says their god is a god of love and he would never judge or send anyone to hell has a different god than the God of the Bible. The true God is a loving God who sent His own Son to the world for the salvation of all people. Jesus said that He did not come into the world to judge the world but that all the world should be saved. Clearly there is something to be saved from – what is it? Hell was created for Satan and the demons who follow him – it was never designed for people. However, if people reject the salvation from sin offered by Jesus Christ, they will follow Satan to hell.

O Lord, do not Your eyes look for truth? You have smitten them, But they did not weaken; You have consumed them, But they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to repent (Jeremiah 5:3). Even though God has brought correction to a rebellious people to turn them back to truth, they would not listen but instead hardened their hearts to remain in opposition to God. Failure to repent while still able seals their doom when they die.

Through the prophet Ezekiel God says, “Repent and turn away from all your transgressions, so that iniquity may not become a stumbling block to you … For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God. “Therefore, repent and live.” (Ezekiel 18:30, 32).

From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). Jesus warned the Pharisees that repentance must be real and visible with real change producing results (Luke 3:8). John the Baptist and Jesus had harsh words (Matthew 3:7-8) for those who tried to put on the appearance of piety as though they had repented when they had not. Real repentance always produces a change. If only words of repentance are offered but there is no change, there was no repentance.

What reason do you have to reject Jesus Christ? People use many “reasons” or excuses to deny the truth and reality of God as though He doesn’t exist. Ignoring Him is not a solution: one day you will stand before Him to give an account of your life – there is no escaping the judgment. Why not have your slate wiped clean now while you can – repent and be saved!

Some say that religion is just a crutch, a superstition, or a hold-over of ancient mystic beliefs that have no basis in science. But don’t confuse dead religions with the real life that Jesus Christ offers. Christ offers a new life that no longer practices sinful deeds. When a follower of Christ sins, that person can turn to Christ to immediately repent and receive complete forgiveness – just as though he had never sinned.

Through many signs and wonders, Jesus Christ authenticated his claim to be the Son of the living God. Even today, people see healings and amazing signs that confirm that God actively hears their prayers and requests, and responds. Unfortunately, there are many imitators who claim some spiritual power and put on a show that is fraudulent and does not bring glory to God. But when the Spirit of God brings healing, it is real and the change is permanent. I speak from experience.

“I was born that way.” In fact, this is a true statement of every person – we were born with a sin nature built in due to the way sin entered the world through Adam and Eve. However some have used that statement to say that God created them that way even though the Bible clearly declares that such characteristics and actions are contrary to God’s will. Some “churches” have made God to appear to be a liar when they endorse the very things that God says He opposes.

But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted (1 Timothy 1:8-11).

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

If a leader of a church actively and unrepentantly practices the deeds described, he  displeases God, and will be judged. God is not swayed by social movements or world events – He is the same forever and what was sin 4000 years ago (Genesis 18:20) is still sin.

God created you for eternal life with Him but Satan rebelled against God and has attempted to thwart God plans for fellowship with His creation by tempting us to rebel against Him through our deeds, our thoughts, our denial of His existence and desire to be our own god.

God has provided salvation through Jesus Christ and no one else: repent and believe, and through believing, serve the living God who created you and enjoy real life!

Warning to Child Abusers

Children who experience sexual abuse often suffer from the damage the rest of their lives. Through personal discussion with people who were abused as children, many relate their inability to relate appropriately in life and in marriage. The epidemic is worse than publicly reported.

In an effort to make our society more politically correct and open to all kinds of relationships, the opportunities for adults to prey upon children are becoming more numerous. Some parents encourage their children to function as someone of the opposite gender creating a dilemma regarding the use of public washrooms. In some places, if a child born with male genitals decides he wants to be a girl, he is allowed to use the female washroom.

Adults wanting a sexual experience with a child create a lifetime of misery for the child. By any standard of right and wrong, this is wrong to the extreme.

Jesus warned us by the judgment He pronounced on people who would harm a child – it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around His neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

For those who have been harmed, the way to an abundant life is through forgiveness and faith in Jesus to bring complete healing. The memories are not wiped away although they may become faded, but the ability to identify the harm and receive God’s grace will bring restoration.

For those who have been the abusers, the way to real restoration can only be found through confession, repentance, and submission to Christ. This may seem impossible, but with Christ, all things are possible. Repentance means coming clean on what you’ve done and turning from it so as to never allow yourself to do it again. In Christ’s strength, this is possible – on your own, very unlikely.

He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.”

So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish (Matthew 18:2-6, 10, 14).

The Risks of Christ Becoming Human

The plan to save humanity was in motion in the Garden of Eden, however it seems to have been full of risks. God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in unity created heaven and earth and all that exists. Their nature before creation was spiritual, not physical and this is underlined because the physicality of creation did not yet exist. God chose to create man and mankind after their image, an image that obviously meant much more than just appearance.

Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden were soon confronted with a decision whether to believe and obey God. Satan, a created being, had a hand in deceiving Eve, and when they disobeyed God, God already had a plan to redeem the kingdom that they had just given away to Satan. Scriptures record in Genesis 3:15 that God prophesied that a Savior would crush Satan. The plan required the second person of the godhead to be born completely human, setting aside His glory for this task to redeem fallen humanity.

The risks of the Creator becoming completely human seem immeasurable. A holy, sinless God being born of a woman, who was dead in sin just like the rest of humanity, is almost unimaginable. Why would He take the risk of becoming a member of humanity? Only if He was successful in atoning for the sin would humanity, and even his own human mother, be saved.

Consider the risks: being born in a manger, being taken to Egypt to escape Herod’s wrath, returning to Israel to find a safe place to grow up, submitting to earthly parents who did not fully understand the plan Jesus was born to fulfill. At the age of 12, He stayed in Jerusalem in the temple being taught by the teachers while his parents began to look for Him when they realized that he was not part of the caravan returning home. When they found Him, they were upset with Him for causing them concern.

Luke records that Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men (Luke 2:52). In favor with God? Was there some risk that Christ as a growing child would not have all of God’s favor? When Christ was about 30 years of age and began His public ministry, Satan came to tempt Him. Was there some risk that He would yield to one of Satan’s temptations? Apparently there was. Yet in every decision, Jesus was sinless and perfect in fulfilling all the prophecies of Scripture about the Messiah that would come to redeem mankind.

From God’s perspective, it seems that providing salvation for mankind was worth the risks. Now how can we refuse God who has done so much to redeem us?

When God is Ashamed to be Called Your God

The religions of the world all seem to have one thing in common: the worship of God or many gods as represented in idols or as pantheism. Some believe that their god cannot be known but must be appeased to receive protection and favor. Except for the Living God who has communicated through prophets, both in writing and personally, no other god has reveal what he is thinking – how could they, no god of wood or stone actually lives, it’s just an idol.

When the Living God allows disaster and tragedy to come upon a nation or community, it may be because the people in that community have ignored God’s clear communication to them. In the book of Judges, the Bible records many cycles when people disobeyed the Living God and did their own thing. Tragic consequences brought these people back to want to hear God’s voice and obey Him thus bringing peace to the land. Falling back into sin and disobedience eventually brought another cycle of disaster and tragedy.

The Living God has clearly communicated to the people of earth those things that please Him and those things that do not. But imagine what He must think when people who claim to be His children say and do things that are contrary to His will and instruction! And when these people teach others to follow their ways, I suspect that God is ashamed that they claim to be His children (Hebrews 11:16).

Jesus made it very clear – if you love God you will do what He says, you will obey Him recognizing that He has redeemed you from the pit of destruction and given you a new life, a new hope and the promise of a very enjoyable life in the world to come. Having been redeemed with a price that you could never pay yourself, it is a small thing to commit this new life to serving the Living God. If you do not want to serve God, then your only option is to stay on the road to destruction and eternal torment – your choice.

Hebrews chapter 11 records the history of people who believed God and in faith did things that may have seemed to be illogical but in hindsight accomplished great things in obedience to God. Of such people, the Bible records that God was not ashamed to be called their God. The passage goes on to say that He has prepared a city for them. Having left this earth, they await the resurrection and the new earth which will be free from sin.

God has endured the hostility of sinners against Himself, but there is coming a day of judgment when all of God’s promises will be fulfilled and the obedient will see all the wonders God has prepared for His people – those of whom He is not ashamed.

The Error of the Eucharist

The Lord’s Supper as a sacrament was taught to Christ’s disciples on the night He was betrayed. The Gospel of Matthew chapter 26 records that Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you;  for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

Did the disciples actually eat Christ’s flesh and blood? The answer should be obviously “no!” The text says that Jesus took some bread and broke it, and he took the cup with its contents and gave it to them to drink from it. Clearly, Jesus used the bread and the wine to symbolize the death of his body and the shedding of blood for the forgiveness of sins.

Unfortunately, the Roman Catholic fathers have added their own concepts to the truth, much like the Pharisees did in their day, making the truth an untruth. The Council of Trent said “And since in this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and offered in an unbloody manner…

To teach that the elements of the Eucharist actually become the real body of Christ is contrary to Scripture and was refuted even before it became a common practice among Roman Catholics. The author of the book of Hebrews in chapter 9, while discussing the ways in which Christ’s sacrifice is superior to the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament, says His one perfect sacrifice was sufficient to redeem mankind for all ages.

If His sacrifice was not complete, it would have to be offered time and time again, just as the Roman Catholics do it in the Mass. But Scripture says the sacrifice was complete:

For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;  nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own.  Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

Here is the error: Christ does not offer His body and shed His blood every time a Roman Catholic priest conducts the Eucharist service because His sacrifice was complete, perfect and final. If you argue that the Mass is “unbloody” then you must also acknowledge that the Mass is useless for the forgiveness of sins since the Scripture clearly says “without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22).

When the apostle Paul teaches the Lord’s Supper in 1 Corinthians 11, he repeats Jesus’ words showing that by the breaking of bread and drinking of the cup we are to remember what the Lord has done, and we are to proclaim it until He comes. The bread and cup are symbols of remembrance, and do not cause Christ to have to offer His body again and again for the forgiveness of sins. Any other interpretation of Paul’s words degrades the value of Christ’s sacrifice which was offered for once and for all.

I am well aware that many Roman Catholics value the words of the early Roman Catholic Church fathers as weightier than the Scriptures, but those who do so, do so at their own peril. The Scriptures were given as a complete revelation of Jesus Christ and need no additions or reinterpretation by people.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:13).

US Supreme Court Defies God – Decision by Higher Court Coming

After the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on same-sex marriage, Franklin Graham made the following statement on his Facebook page:

The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled today that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. With all due respect to the court, it did not define marriage, and therefore is not entitled to re-define it.

Long before our government came into existence, marriage was created by the One who created man and woman—Almighty God—and His decisions are not subject to review or revision by any manmade court. God is clear about the definition of marriage in His Holy Word: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

I pray God will spare America from His judgment, though, by our actions as a nation, we give Him less and less reason to do so.

The book of Proverbs gives us this precise summary:

An unjust man is abominable to the righteous,
And he who is upright in the way is abominable to the wicked
(29:27).

The movements behind so-called same-sex “marriage” have been very demanding that they be given all the rights and privileges of traditional marriages. They want people to be tolerant of them yet when they are opposed in any way, they themselves are extremely intolerant.

One cannot support same-sex unions while hearing God’s voice and walking with Him. The Word of God speaks very plainly about such lifestyles and pronounces judgment on those who participate. God sometimes chooses to execute judgment very quickly on the living, and at other times He delays judgment giving people an opportunity to repent and live according to His instructions. However, judgment on sin is absolutely certain.

As Jonah warned the people of Nineveh many years ago: repent for judgment is coming. The final decision by a higher court is coming.

When an Angry God Laughs

The earth shook and people died. Officials blamed some young people for angering the mountain gods by stripping naked at the top. It seems most people who heard the news assumed that the earthquake was nothing more than a coincidence, and that associating it with the reaction of a god was nothing more than mythology.

However, mankind seems intent on angering the true and living God of all creation. The warning has already been declared in writing for all to read – if people continue to disobey the instructions and commands, if they rebel against His right to rule, and if they deny that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only way to eternal life, God will speak to them in His anger (Psalm 2:5).

It doesn’t matter if all the nations of the world take their stand to defy God, the day is coming when He will laugh at them, He will scoff, and He will terrify them. His patience has limits. When the line has been crossed, the defiant will perish (Psalm 2:12).

The days are coming when people will say to the mountains, “Fall on us,” and the hills, “Cover us” (Luke 23:30). This is what they will say when an angry God laughs at them. If the words of Jesus are not enough, the warning is repeated in the Book of Revelation, chapter 6: 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16 and they were saying to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?

Those who turn from their sinful deeds before that great day, and repent, confessing their rebellion, and commit to serve God, the King of kings and Lord of all, will be forgiven their sin and will live in the presence of God forever. Those who remain unrepentant to death or until Christ appears again will be judged according to their deeds. The judgment will not be about weighing the good deeds against the bad, but the judgment will be based upon whether the salvation Christ offers was accepted. All of us have sinned at least once, and all of us since Adam have been born with a sin-nature. Therefore the judgment will rest solely on whether your sins have been forgiven by Christ and the subsequent transaction whereby you entered the Kingdom of God.

If you are not living in the Kingdom of God, you have been warned to make the transaction before it is too late. Judgment is definitely coming, and the more people rebel against His instructions for life, the closer that judgment is. Please be ready.
